Is My Project RERA Registered?
Short answer: Go to your state's RERA portal, use the 'registered projects' search, and look up the project by name, promoter, or the RERA registration number printed on the builder's advertisement. If a project over 500 sq.m or with more than 8 units isn't listed, it is being sold illegally.
What you need to know
- Every state RERA portal has a public project-search tool — no login needed
- Check that the registration is still active (not expired, revoked, or lapsed) and matches the exact project phase you're buying into
- The registration number should also appear on the builder's advertisement and brochure
- Projects on 500 sq.m or less land, or with 8 or fewer units, are legally exempt from registration
